Intellectual content, for instant

And history that's a tad more congruent with the facts as we know them, or at least the facts that we think might be the closest to the truth, i.e. Herodotus.

Damn it!

I meant "for instance", not "for instant"!

OH SNAPS SPOCK ICON FTW.

Well, 300 is based on a comic book based on Sparta. So I think we can give them a little leeway to be historically inaccurate. XD

But I don't have to like it...

You were asking what it would take to draw me in, weren't you?

Re: But I don't have to like it...

I was pretty much just kidding around, because I thought everybody liked beefcake. D:

"There is no humor on the internets but Cleolinda's humor, foo'!"

Unfortunately, some people need more than an emoticon to indicate gently-teasing mock-shock, a subtle form of human communication requiring vocal tones and facial expressions to accompany the spoken word which rarely works in posted responses to RL strangers.

Oh, interweb! Why do you kitty-play with our well-intentioned yet toneless words and mutilate them into sparking pointless nonarguments with complete strangers? Woe is we.

*チュ!*

Also, while I'm as fond of it as any other blue-blooded hetero female, beefcake and the general blessings of bountiful male pulchritude did not make up for the money lost on seeing Troy in a theater. Woe was my wallet.

*awkwardly pats your shoulder in attempt to comfort*

Cup of tea?

Re: Intellectual content, for instant

And isn't the comic based on a '60s movie rather than any historical document? Or do I misunderstand his being inspired by "The 300 Spartans"?

Re: Intellectual content, for instant

No, you're right. Frank Miller based his comic on the 1950's movie.

And we all know how historically accurate toga films of the `50's were! Shame, Mr. Miller! For shame!

Re: Intellectual content, for instant

According to Honest Trailers, "300" is a film "based on a Frank Miller graphic novel based on an older film based on Ancient Greek propaganda based on a true story."

So, many, many degrees of historical license employed.
