Phantom of the Opera in Fifteen Minutes

As promised: Phantom of the Opera in Fifteen Minutes. I'm still counting up the fundraising, but we'll have a final count soon. I'm already running late with the book manuscript, but this was a very quick write--it practically parodies itself, and it was fun, and a good palate cleanser.

ETA 4/02/05: Okay. I'm gonna try to be real clear about this. I really, really liked the movie. I liked the book. I have never seen the show, but I would probably like it, and I ended up really enjoying the music. I like the actors involved. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ME COMMENTS ABOUT MY "HATE" FOR THE MOVIE. The point of these parodies is "affectionate snark." The jokes are written with love. If I hated the movie, I wouldn't bother. If you think I'm not funny, that's one thing, but please don't leave me long screeds about how I didn't "understand" or "appreciate" the movie, because you're preaching to the choir. (Yes, I have received, and am still receiving, a lot of these. Two today alone, in fact.)

P.S. Please look up the difference between "heroin" and "heroine" before you complain about my "Heroine Addict" icons. It's a pun. It's supposed to be a positive thing. I'm not calling anyone a drug user. Thank you, and enjoy.

Oh, and since it always comes up: I never have a problem with anyone leaving comments. In fact, if you'd like, you can leave them in the comments for me to see. But please don't copy or repost the entire thing anywhere; excerpts and links are always fine, though.

ETA: Minor corrections have been made to dates and a couple of names.

OH MY GOD, HE'S SLIGHTLY UNATTRACTIVE ON ONE SIDE! TO ARMS!Collapse )

I know you must have heard this about a million times by now, but this was absolutely hilarious and actually makes me love the movie even more. Keep up the good work. ^_^

ETA 4/02/05:

People take this way too seriously. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the movie. Are there really people getting pissed off about the 'heroine' pun? Mwahahaha. Brilliant.

Do see the show, or get the original cast recording. It's mass love.

I'm looking forward to the book! ^_^ I can't wait for your next parody!

Yeah. Someone was upset that I "called Christine a heroine addict," not noticing that the extra "e" makes it a different word. Ah, well.

And thanks. : )

I realise that it is much, much too late to say anything that hasn't been said before, but...

...this is awesome. For some reason, this makes me want to watch Phantom of the Opera more than the trailer does.

(Just out of interest- have you read Maskerade, by Terry Pratchett? It's what you might call a broad spoof of the POTO story, and is easily among the funniest books I've ever read.)

Thanks. I haven't read that one, but a lot of people have recommended it to me, so I may have to. : )

You, my dear, are absolutely brilliant. I've only read HP & POA in Fifteen Minutes before this one because I was afraid that I would be disappointed by your others, but that's just clearly not true. You're amazingly hilarious throughout, and for that I tip my hat to you.

I know you hear compliments all the time, but you deserve all of them. Fantastic, really. You make me smile (and laugh out loud, but you know, one goes with the other).

Awww, thanks. I really think that POTO here is probably the best one I've done, although Van Helsing and Troy are fairly good. The others are weaker. I'm trying to bring my A+ game for the "Fifteen Minutes" book, though. : )
