Phantom of the Opera in Fifteen Minutes

As promised: Phantom of the Opera in Fifteen Minutes. I'm still counting up the fundraising, but we'll have a final count soon. I'm already running late with the book manuscript, but this was a very quick write--it practically parodies itself, and it was fun, and a good palate cleanser.

ETA 4/02/05: Okay. I'm gonna try to be real clear about this. I really, really liked the movie. I liked the book. I have never seen the show, but I would probably like it, and I ended up really enjoying the music. I like the actors involved. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ME COMMENTS ABOUT MY "HATE" FOR THE MOVIE. The point of these parodies is "affectionate snark." The jokes are written with love. If I hated the movie, I wouldn't bother. If you think I'm not funny, that's one thing, but please don't leave me long screeds about how I didn't "understand" or "appreciate" the movie, because you're preaching to the choir. (Yes, I have received, and am still receiving, a lot of these. Two today alone, in fact.)

P.S. Please look up the difference between "heroin" and "heroine" before you complain about my "Heroine Addict" icons. It's a pun. It's supposed to be a positive thing. I'm not calling anyone a drug user. Thank you, and enjoy.

Oh, and since it always comes up: I never have a problem with anyone leaving comments. In fact, if you'd like, you can leave them in the comments for me to see. But please don't copy or repost the entire thing anywhere; excerpts and links are always fine, though.

ETA: Minor corrections have been made to dates and a couple of names.

You're Awwwuhsuhmah

Can I discuss with you using this script for my Oral Interpretation team at my school? I want to do a Humorous next year and I've been looking and I think that PotO in Fifteen Minutes is pretty perfect. Comment back to me at my livejournal or something.

Re: You're Awwwuhsuhmah

Let me know if you get this, but--I've given permission for stuff like this several times. As long as I'm credited and you're not making a profit, it's fine with me. : )

Just got this pointed out to me. Good thing I was warned not to be drinking anything while reading it! Very well done and hilarious!

Hilarious! I haven't laughed this hard in days...I loved the Book!Phantom references throughout...makes you wonder how many people reading this parody read the book too and actually get the jokes. ::shrug:: Whatever.

My fav line by far?

"CHRISTINE: Daddy? Is that you?

VOICE FROM THE DAAÉ TOMB: …Sure, if that’s your kink. "

Okay.. You know what? I'm not gonna read through 34 pages of comments so this might have been said...

But here's something you have to ask yourself...

During the sword fight in the graveyard, why was part of the Hook theme implanted in the music?

I am so glad

That this page also had the heroin vs heroine explanation. You know - I'm just glancing at the icons as I looked through the m15m memoires. And I thought - okay - more power to you for thinking that Lucy was addicted to heroin, but I was confused.

Now I love the icons!

Former Cast Member of POTO

ANDRE: Hey, we’re all French, right?

FIRMIN: Last time I checked, yes.

ANDRE: Well, then why is she the only one with a French accent?

OMG, I was in ALW's POTO for three years in two of the National Tours. I played Buquet in one and played Monsieur Firmin in the other. I don't care who you are, that's funny.

WOW! That totally made my day! I laughed through the entire thing =)
My favorite part was this:
[Il Muto seems to be about a giant pink poodle-lady who may or may not be having an affair with a page boy who may or may not be an actual boy, played by an actual girl (Christine). People watching the movie who have never seen a real opera make a note not to start going now. We know that the Phantom is going to wreak havoc on the show because we have seen him playing with his Opera Dollhouse of Crazy.]
LMFAO! You're awesome! A parody done to perfection!

Brava, Brava, Bravissima!

Let me just say how very much you rock my world. I love phantom, and I love parodies. Excellent excellent job here. As a huge phantom fan girl and dork, I commend you : ) (plus now you've given me wonderfully funny quotes for me to throw out and confuse people with!) And I do love how you pick up on the differences between the book, the show, and the movie (I mean, good lord, they rewrote a line in the song Masquerade to cover the fact that they hadn't dropped the chandelier yet.)

You wanna know what else is fun? Watch the orininal silent Phantom (from like 1924) and make snide remarks throughout! My friends and I are always up for that : )

Great great job, and I really look forward to reading more of your 15 min movies.

*has died*

Always hilarious no matter how many times you read it. Thank you x 1000.

Oh my... *thud*

*Falls at your feet*

That is absolutely hilarious! I never stopped laughing through the whole thing! So much greatness I've actually forgotten what to comment on! I LOVED the part where she took off his mask. That icon was actually how I found this. And I ADORED the part where Erik asked Raoul to hold the rope.
The whole thing was hilarious! Statues should be erected to you, towns and children named after you.
That is the funniest thing I've seen in quite awhile.
Terrible third degree sunburn. So true.
OH! Loved the Dread Pirate Roberts corps de ballet. Fabulous. Adore Cary Elwes.

VOICE FROM THE DAAÉ TOMB: Christine! Come to me!

CHRISTINE: Daddy? Is that you?

VOICE FROM THE DAAÉ TOMB: …Sure, if that’s your kink.
*Giggle giggle snort*

And "I keel you, Fabio!"
*Rolls around laughing some more*

Oh, it was just so ghood. So wonderful. I love it. I think I'd rather read this than watch the movie. *Grin*

"I just wanted to give you the ring. You know. As a token. Of my eternal… affection. Yeah. “Affection.” And my phone number. And my forwarding address...."

Absolutely brilliant. I've read the book and am an absolute devotee of the stage show, but don't want to have my disbelief mocked by all the CGI where I can watch the magic for real in the theatre, so haven't seen the film.

I think this rocks and should be compulsory reading for all Phans everywhere - it's been made funny without insulting the original. Congratulations.

Thanks. If you haven't seen the movie, then--it's sort of delightfully awful--it may help to know that I'm not making things like the comedy sheep or the handelabra up. They're really in the movie. People are always stunned to realize this. ; )

Loved it but found this interesting

I loved this! I actually read it some time ago. I am posting here today because by chance I stumbled upon this website where someone wrote their own "opera" and I thought you might be interested in seeing it. It was posted in March of last year. http://www.phantomoftheopera.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=2279&forum=3&post_id=48912

Maybe someone has already brought it to your attention I just thought you should be made aware of it in case you hadn't seen it.
