Phantom of the Opera in Fifteen Minutes

As promised: Phantom of the Opera in Fifteen Minutes. I'm still counting up the fundraising, but we'll have a final count soon. I'm already running late with the book manuscript, but this was a very quick write--it practically parodies itself, and it was fun, and a good palate cleanser.

ETA 4/02/05: Okay. I'm gonna try to be real clear about this. I really, really liked the movie. I liked the book. I have never seen the show, but I would probably like it, and I ended up really enjoying the music. I like the actors involved. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ME COMMENTS ABOUT MY "HATE" FOR THE MOVIE. The point of these parodies is "affectionate snark." The jokes are written with love. If I hated the movie, I wouldn't bother. If you think I'm not funny, that's one thing, but please don't leave me long screeds about how I didn't "understand" or "appreciate" the movie, because you're preaching to the choir. (Yes, I have received, and am still receiving, a lot of these. Two today alone, in fact.)

P.S. Please look up the difference between "heroin" and "heroine" before you complain about my "Heroine Addict" icons. It's a pun. It's supposed to be a positive thing. I'm not calling anyone a drug user. Thank you, and enjoy.

Oh, and since it always comes up: I never have a problem with anyone leaving comments. In fact, if you'd like, you can leave them in the comments for me to see. But please don't copy or repost the entire thing anywhere; excerpts and links are always fine, though.

ETA: Minor corrections have been made to dates and a couple of names.

Wah, I just stumbled upon this, and I must say that I love it. Phantom has been the first fictional I ever fell in love with, but you can't stay with it for so long without seeing the funny side, too.

"Christine, who would be a perfect lead for my opera except for the fact that she is a CHEATING WHORE who prefers the Missing Hanson Brother to me."
& the entire Point of No Return scene--possibly my favorite parts...but it's so damned hard to choose!

You're wonderful. <3

this icon does not fit, but oh well

CHRISTINE: You could totally get away with it!

FANFIC WRITERS: Did someone say SLASH? I laughed. Hard.

[He sets the ugly monkey box down at the gravestone... and notices that someone else has been there first. And left a rose. With the engagement ring tied to it.] I quite liked that ending. :D

HAHAHA, I loved this so much.

You know, I also read the book, watched many of the different movies (my favorite is actually NOT the 2004... or was it '06? can't remember... version)
and my boyfriend actually took me to see the broadway production as a birthday present, so I'm right with you. I mean, my sister and I always do this same thing with the movies we love the most. Although I think that Christine is a bit of a little bitch and Raoul is a pussy.

ANYWAYS, all this is just to say, Kudos, you had me LOL. I woke up my sister sleeping on the couch when I laughed.

This is sheer brilliance. You know she totally would have gone with the Phantom aside from the whole random murdering thing. You nailed everything that was wrong with that movie. (The water trap, why?) :D

I just re-read this after watching the movie for the first time, and it was lolarious. OMG TOO MUCH LOUD MUSIC IN THAT THING. Thank God for Minnie Driver, though.

Man, I am almost crying with laughter. I've never had any interest in 'Phantom' at all since the couple of times I'd heard the original cast recording (at least I think it was) the Phantom's voice sounded... well, slimy . Made it hard to believe he was able to seduce Christine at all. But now I just might actually use my Netflix slot and watch this.
